We’ve involved our employees by organising a contest to define the safety message that will be printed on our work outfits. This competition allows us to engage our work group in a positive and collaborative action.  The involvement and empowerment of everyone on a daily basis are the driving forces behind the continuous improvement of our safety culture.

26 employees from the support, maintenance and production sectors volunteered to propose a safety slogan with a total of 42 proposals!

After deliberation by the Health&Safety Comitee, the chosen slogan is “Safety before productivity”!

Congratulations to Audrey SUSZKA who has been awarded prizes on this theme by Christophe Lloret Linares: a first aid kit and a mug. All the participants have also been rewarded.

Thank you to our employees who, every day, write history in the service of cardboard.

Since 2021, La Rochette Cartonboard has been ISO 50 001 certified. This standard aims to implement an energy management system (EMS) to reduce our energy costs and have a positive impact on our carbon footprint. 🌍

Our factory is fully committed to this approach and self-produces part of the electricity it consumes thanks to its biomass boiler. The boiler is being upgraded to more efficient and less energy-consuming technologies (new turbine, new pumps and motors with variable speed drives, etc.).

Our teams seek to target projects aimed at improving energy performance. These projects include, for example, the optimisation of the compressed air plant to avoid leaks and to recover the thermal energy indirectly produced by the process (which is neither recovered nor used to preheat the boiler water), or the construction of a solar farm, for which an environmental impact study is in progress.

At La Rochette Cartonboard, we want to surround ourselves with the best skills to continue to write our history! ✏️

For the next 10 years, Engie Solutions France will accompany us in the renovation, securing and production of compressed air.

Compressed air is essential to manufacture, transform and shape our cardboard. Therefore, our production station must meet the requirements of the process. This will be revamped and optimized. The work operations combined with the operation of the station and Engie’s commitment to availability and energy performance will allow us to increase our production while reducing our energy consumption!

In a few figures:
✅ 16 GWh cumac of EEC valued
✅ a 9% energy gain
✅ 63.5 million Nm3 of compressed air per year

Thank you to all the teams of Engie Solutions France for their partnership with our company!

150 years of history, one year of celebration

A history in the service of cardboard

150 years ago, something unique happened. Back then, no one knew that this adventure would run like this, nor that we would spend decades writing a story in the service of cardboard.
We can debate whether the village was founded earlier than the factory or vice versa.

150 years of history, one year of celebration

Throughout the year, we will organize various activities. The focus of the activities will be on our various stakeholders, our employees, our customers and suppliers, as well as the local partners.

La Rochette Cartonboard takes the initiative to make a carbon assessment of the company. The project is supported by our partner BPI, Public Investment Bank. We have organized an information meeting with the representatives of our employees. All stakeholders will be involved in this project. In a few months, we will know the result.

Strongly linked to the region and the village of La Rochette-Valgelon, the mill has now re-named to “La Rochette Cartonboard SAS”.

After an impressive participation by our employees following the invitation to share ideas for a new logo, a final version based on the idea of Thibaut Chatanay, who is the 5th generation of his family to work at La Rochette, was now selected. We are very proud of this new, fresh and modern logo which also underlines our strong connection to our region – the Savoie, its mountains, rivers, forests and especially its people.

La Rochette is located in Valgelon-La Rochette, France and produces Folding Boxboard based on virgin fibers (FBB). The company is the main producer in the FBB market in Southern Europe, with France being the key market. La Rochette serves mainly the pharma and food packaging industries. Johannes Laumann, CIO of Mutares comments: “La Rochette fits perfectly into the portfolio of Mutares. With our extensive experience in the paper industry, especially with Cenpa and keeeper Stotzheim, producing recycled board and tissue paper respectively, I am convinced that we are the right partner and have the industry expertise to leverage La Rochette’s potential and generate new growth.”
