World Water Day!

🌍 💧 Today is World Water Day!

It’s a resource that deserves our attention and protection because it’s vital. Alongside wood, it is our main raw material.

Given the increasing scarcity of this resource, exacerbated by recurrent droughts in France in both summer and winter, we consider water conservation to be one of the main challenges of our environmental policy.
In this context, our objective is to reduce our water consumption by 15% by 2025. To achieve this, we have drawn up a Water Sobriety Plan, the main lever for which is the reuse of treated wastewater. Since 2022, we have set up a system to inject treated water from our wastewater treatment plant to replace some of the fresh water used by one of our machines.

✅ By 2023, we have reduced our water consumption by 10%.

As an accountable company, we believe that every gesture counts when it comes to preserving water, and we are aware of our role in protecting it. That’s why our factory is ISO 50 001 certified, which validates our actions in terms of energy management and efficiency.

After presenting the Rochfreeze in Febuary, this month we’re spotlighting the Rochperle. 💧
“Roch” refers to La Rochette, the place where it’s manufactured, in the heart of the Alps, while “Perle” highlights its water resistance and grease barrier!

What are its characteristics?

✅ A folding boxboard (FBB) coated on one side with grease barrier wood backing with a KIT test of 8.
✅ A reinforced-sizing treatment for a water resistance.
✅ Specially designed for food use in contact with greasy foods or frozen/refrigerated foods.
✅ Suitable for direct food contact.
✅ Has all requirements for a good quality of printing and varnishing.
✅ Suitable for inkjet and laser coding.

Renewal of our ISO 50 001 certification

La Rochette Cartonboard successfully renewed its ISO 50 001 certification at the start of 2024: this standard aims to implement an energy management system (EMS) to reduce our energy consumption and have a positive impact on our carbon footprint.🌍

The audit at the beginning of 2024 was carried out in conjunction with the ISO 9001 audit, for the first time in the history of the site’s certifications: a great success with the joint renewal of these 2 ISO certifications to the satisfaction of our stakeholders!

This renewal of our ISO 50 001 certification recognises our ongoing commitment to improving our energy performance. We self-produce part of the electricity we consume thanks to our biomass boiler, and we are continuing our studies and reflections with the aim of moving towards more efficient and less energy-consuming technologies.

Our teams are working hard to target projects aimed at improving energy performance. These projects include, for example, a change in vacuum pump technology and the construction of a photovoltaic farm in the immediate proximity of the site in the very near future.
